SISTERING - A partnering Workshop for Dancers with Zoe Gyssler & Diane Gemsch

Thursday & Friday 12-4pm

In the "Sistering" workshop, we delve into the profound bond and collaboration between dance partners. Throughout this dynamic workshop, we will engage in a variety of exercises specifically curated to enhance your partnering skills and unlock our artistic potential by exploring creative tools in improvisation and choreography with our partner.

Next to establishing trust and using active listening in order to communicate authentically with our partner, we will develop a solid foundation of partnering techniques, including lifts, counterbalance, finding common axis, weight sharing, and seamless transitions.

Once builded up the trust, we will apply playfull tasks and exercises, that put the emphasis in challenging each other in exploring new movement patterns, speed changes, upside down situations and other unfamiliar situations. Through the solid ground of trust and the playful approach we are putting the emphasis in finding joy in taking risks; seeking to step towards letting go of trained fears by the motivational and uplifting feeling of discovering new ways and paths in connection with our partner.

Last but not least we will dive into the emotional aspect of dance partnering and discover how to evoke and communicate emotions through movement and how to use it as a tool for storytelling purposes.

Guided by the experienced movement facilitators Zoe & Diane, you will discover the joy of collaboration and constructive challenge on the base of trust in a safe and inclusive environment. We celebrate the concept of sisterhood, emphasizing the supportive and nurturing relationships that can be cultivated within the dance community.

Whether you identify as female or not, this workshop encourages all participants from all genders to embrace the spirit of sistering and explore its transformative power through movement.
